These archived cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage estimates are for persons who were pregnant anytime from December 20, 2020, to January 20, 2022, and received at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy based on data from the Vaccine Safety Datalink*. As of January 20, 2022, after moving to reporting weekly estimates, the figures on https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations-pregnant-women no longer present cumulative estimates, and these archived data are no longer updated.
For these cumulative data, on December 15, 2021, an error was identified where pregnant people who had received an additional or booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine were not included in the coverage estimates. After correcting the error, coverage estimates for the week of December 11, 2021, increased overall and by race/ethnicity. The persons that were inadvertently excluded have been counted in the December 11, 2021, estimates. Prior weeks’ estimates have not been updated.

This table presents the number of pregnant and postpartum Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries, 2017-2021. It includes (1) the number and percentage of beneficiaries ever pregnant in the year; (2) the number and percentage of live births in the year; (3) the number and percentage of miscarriages, stillbirths, or terminations in the year; and (4) the number and percentage of births with an unknown delivery outcome in the year.
These metrics are based on data in the T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF). Some states have serious data quality issues, making the data unusable for identifying this population. Data for a state are considered unusable based on DQ Atlas thresholds for the following topics: Total Medicaid and CHIP Enrollment, Claims Volume - IP, Claims Volume - OT, Claims Volume - IP, Diagnosis Code - IP, Diagnosis Code - OT, Procedure Codes - OT Professional. Cells with a value of “DQ” indicate that data were suppressed due to unusable data.
Data from Maryland, Tennessee, and Utah are omitted from the tables due to data quality concerns. Maryland was excluded in 2017 due to unusable diagnosis codes in the IP file and the OT file. Tennessee was excluded due to unusable diagnosis codes in the IP file in 2017 - 2019. Utah was excluded due to unusable procedure codes on OT professional claims in 2017 - 2020. In addition, states with a high data quality concern on one or more measures are noted in the table in the "Data Quality" column. These metrics are based on data in the T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF). Some states have serious data quality issues for one or more months, making the data unusable for calculating pregnancy measures. The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS) is an ongoing, nationally representative survey to assess experiences of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and stalking among adults in the United States. It measures lifetime victimization for these types of violence as well as in the previous 12 months. In 2010, a total of 18,049 interviews from the general population sample were conducted.

The primary objective of the National Pregnancy and Health

Survey (NPHS) was to produce national annual estimates of the

percentages and numbers of mothers of live newborns in the United

States who used selected licit and illicit drugs in the 12 months

prior to delivery. A further objective was to describe patterns of

prenatal substance use among demographic subgroups of

women. Information on demographic and socioeconomic characteristics,

obstetric history, and drug treatment of women who delivered infants

at sampled hospitals was obtained through an interviewer-administered

questionnaire, while data on substance use before and during pregnancy

were collected through a questionnaire completed by the respondent and

concealed from the interviewer. Respondents were asked about use of

the following substances: alcohol, amphetamines, analgesics, cocaine,

crack cocaine, barbiturates, hallucinogens, hashish, heroin,

marijuana, methadone, methamphetamine, sedatives, stimulants, tobacco,

and tranquilizers. Additionally, information was collected on the

respondent's pregnancy, prenatal care, delivery, previous pregnancies,

and background. Additional data were obtained from the mothers' and

infants' medical records. Urine specimens collected routinely by the

hospital on obstetric admissions were tested for selected

drugs. Finally, in a subsample of six hospitals, hair specimens were

requested from respondents to evaluate the potential of hair as a

source of toxicological data in future studies.This study has 1 Data Set.
